Mixed-Methods Researcher
Ph.D. Student - Cognitive Psychology
University of Illinois at Chicago
About Me:
I am a Ph.D. student in Cognitive Psychology at UIC, graduating Spring 2019. I have 6+ years of experience conducting both quantitative and qualitative research in an academic setting and the private sector.
My academic research focuses mainly on problems solving. More specifically, I research how people get into and out of mental ruts that prevent them from finding creative solutions to problems. More recently, I have been researching how our prior experience with a task can keep us from finding simple, obvious solutions.
In the private sector, I conducted UX research for Microsoft to help them understand the contexts in which their in-development medical technologies would be used.
When I am not working on my research, I enjoy improving my own problem solving skills by playing puzzle-filled video games, and table top games. I also enjoy cooking, playing the trombone, and indoor rock climbing.
